Table Time 8/5
To the Body of Christ at CCV
There are times when we are truly tested on the Scriptures that we know so well…….ones we have quoted many times in various circumstances. A particular verse that has come home to me these last couple of weeks is Romans 8:28. “And we know all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
Going through the valley of sickness is always trying. But this valley has been especially so. Not only has it been a physical abnormality, but a great spiritual battle. Being isolated away from so many people we love and the life we have here has given the enemy fodder. However, God is so faithful in enabling us to stand on His word.
Let me confirm what many of you know or suspected. Roz and I are battling COVID. We are on prescription medications which are doing their jobs. We have come long way and are probably no longer contagious. However, we believe it is not quite time to push the envelope. We would rather err on the side of caution for your sake. Our prescriptions run through the weekend. Complete fatigue is what we are both experiencing presently. Our taste and smell are returning slowly.
Therefore, as difficult as it is, we will remain out one more week to allow our strength to return. We SO look forward to being back with you. It is with my deep appreciation that John Marsh and Harold Thomas have filled in for me. John will be in the pulpit again this week and will lead in communion.
God is teaching me in profound ways that I look forward to sharing with you. Ya’ll are such a blessing to us. He has so much in store for us together. May The Holy Spirit keep you close to the Father as you keep your eyes on Jesus. We pray for each of you to be in good health.
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. James 1:2-4
