From Pastor Steve’s Study

All of us who love Jesus desire to bring Him glory.  It is clear that the key to doing this is obedience.  Therefore, it is necessary that we learn the skills of consistent, lifelong, natural obedience.  Yesterday as we began our study in 1 Corinthians 10, we saw two of five elements.  First, is that we should learn from the examples of others.  Secondly, we need to develop the essentials for escaping temptation.  Next week we will continue the study.  Consider the following in light of your level of maturity:

  1. What have you learned from examples in your parents, a friend, a teacher/mentor that has influenced you to do things God’s way?
  2. Have you ever expressed to them their influence in your life?
  3. Have you forgiven the negative examples in your life instead of judging those responsible?
  4. Do you have an eye for seeing temptation before it arises or do you wait to be overwhelmed by it in the moment?
  5. Have you learned to run to the cross of Jesus when tempted?  (That means the practice of laying down you own will in those times and embracing His will, no matter the cost).

Important Announcement from CCV Property Team

Gene Tonn, Glenn Berkhahn and Bill Salerno updated the congregation that there will not be an extension of our lease at the September 2020 expiration. Financially, we do not have the resources or time to acquire property and build our own facility at this time.

Please make this a matter of individual prayer. Keep your eyes and ears open for any facility that might be a good fit for our services. Let an elder or member of the property team know if you become aware of opportunities that should be checked out.

Missions & Ministry Update:    Calvary Chapel, Motul

The big day for the Raynors and Calvary Chapel, Motul is coming right up.  The move of the café is scheduled to take place this week with the opening set for this Friday.  The first church service at the new location will be May 26.  Since the new sanctuary is not yet built, the congregation will have to squeeze into the existing building.  They are so excited to have their own place, they will be more than happy to put up with any resulting inconveniences.

Many of you may have heard that Natalie had a motorcycle accident a week or so ago coming home from the paint store.  She banged up her knee and injured her jaw.  Thankfully there were no broken bones, but at last report a few days ago, she was not able to eat solid food and had to use crutches to get around.  Since Natalie does all the baking for the café ministry, please pray that God will provide the help needed for the grand café opening at the new location.

The accident means medical expenses.  The Raynor website (theraynorsinmexico.com) shows how you can help out if you feel so led.

A Bit More About CCV:

CCV Giving Is Facilitated In Two Ways:

A Calvary Chapel distinctive is that no offering plate is passed during service.
There is a Tithe and Offering box located at the back of the sanctuary

Giving online is convenient and can be set up at the CCV website www.ccvillages.org

AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice.
Go to http://smile.amazon.com/about.
Select “Calvary Chapel Villages” from the eligible organization list.

Facilities – We are currently leasing the community center where we worship on Sundays. There is an “Expansion Fund” for CCV folks to give toward a future permanent facility. You may give by identifying your donation for this purpose on the envelopes (Info Table) or online.
