Hello CCV Family!
As many of you know, our church has been under a lot of spiritual warfare lately. Brenda Brown, Jolynn Mazzari, Carol Howell, Esther Tonn, and Dyan’s mother (Betsy) have all suffered injuries from falls or accidents. Brenda Harris is also suffering from a knee injury as well. As I considered all this it occurred to me that the enemy is attacking women in our church who very faithfully serve the Lord. While I know that spiritual warfare is a sign that Satan sees our church as a threat to his kingdom, I am brokenhearted to see anyone from our church suffering. In response to these occurrences, I am calling for a weeklong period of prayer and fasting from January 12-18 to pray for our church, and to pray against the schemes of the devil. Fasting will look different for each of us. Some may choose a water only fast, abstaining from all food for a predetermined period. Some may choose to skip a meal each day and devote that time to prayer. Some may choose to fast by giving up something specific (sweets, coffee, television, social media) or something else to devote the time we would spend on those things to prayer. Because the enemy has targeted our women, I really want to encourage our men to take the lead on this. We are called to be the leaders and protectors of the church. Prayer is one of the best ways to exercise that God-given role. I hope all of us will respond to this call to fight a spiritual battle with spiritual weapons. Prayer and fasting are the most powerful spiritual weapons at our disposal. So please join with me as we as a church do battle against the attempts of the devil to bring us down. Let’s Gather together on Wednesday the 14th, at the Temple at 6:00pm – 7:00pm for an hour of prayer.
Blessings,
Pastor Eric Ward
2 Corinthians 10:3-6
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
