In Revelation 2 and 3, there is a description of the seven churches and what the Spirit is saying to those who have “ears to hear.” Have you ever wondered what the Spirit is saying to the churches in 2020? Well, I have, and I’ve asked that very question. The Holy Spirit showed me a mental picture of a Tower. Not just any tower … it was the Tower of Babel … and these words followed: In the churches Towers of Babel have been erected within hearts in order to reach God......

Table Time Message from Pastor Steve and Roz Good morning on this New Year’s Eve.  Roz and I are away for a few days celebrating our 52nd Anniversary!  Therefore, Table Time today is coming to you in written form from St. Augustine.  We have great hope and expectation as we launch into 2021.  Through all the challenges of 2020, God has truly blessed us in many ways, both individually and as the CCV Church Body.  We are thankful!  In times like these, we are seeing biblical prophecy fulfilled in dramatic ways.  It......

From Pastor Steve’s Study: In America and around the world, God has captured the attention of the followers of Jesus Christ.  Sometimes it takes a crisis in order to do that.  Our response?  To realize our neglected need, as His people who are called by His Name, to humble ourselves and fervently pray … to intentionally seek His Face and turn from our wicked, sinful, defensive, deceitful, hurtful ways … so that He will hear from heaven, remove the guilt of our sin , and heal the condition of our nation.  [based on 2......

From Pastor Steve’s Study: Pastorally, my number one desire is your well-being, safety and continued intimate walk with Jesus.  Keeping that in mind, I have conferred with other pastors and with some of our church leaders and I am continuing to earnestly seek the Lord.  We acknowledge, there is a spike in COVID.  So, here are some things we can do. We will monitor closely the situation both locally and statewide and listen respectfully to our leaders, trying to abide wherever and whenever possible. If we need to close church again for......

A group of godly Jamaican women wrote short pieces about raising black sons that really touched my heart.  I wrote a paragraph of explanation to before recording four of the dozen stories shared in this month’s blog. (with permission of the M.O.O.N. blog … overseer, Janice). ( M.O.O.N. stands for “Mothers On Our kNees” ) These four touched my heart the deepest.  I guess I’ve never imagined what it would be like to raise a black son in today’s world.  I know some of these women personally as some of them were......

Pastor’s Mid-week Update Written blast today, Thursday—-video blast tomorrow, Friday “Walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”  Eph. 4:1-3 Let me bare my soul.  The enemy will do anything to divide us, especially the body of Christ.  In all my more than 50 years of ministry I have never come across anything so polarized, politicized, strategized, ‘conspiricized’ (my made up word) or demonized than COVID-19. ......

From Pastor Steve’s Study: As all of you know we are in a period of transition in a number of ways.  Starting this week, our Monday Blast will be an informational email only.  Personally, I will be concentrating on the Thursday “Table Time” by continuing the weekly video. Good Morning Calvary, No link today, but a message from our pastor: There will be no video today but I do want to address something that has come to my attention.  It is a challenging and even confusing time in which we live.  Often, we do not know what or who to believe with the messages and signals that we receive from the media.  Medical professionals give us conflicting information as well.  Some say we need to wear masks in public and it is the only way to protect ourselves.  Others say......

From Pastor Steve’s Study: God’s glory was witnessed by a number of people when Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead.  Often God’s glory is made visible in the midst of those who know each other well.  Jesus knew Lazarus, Mary, and Martha personally, and He loved them very much.  He invested time with them in their home on several occasions.  They enjoyed being together. One of the best ways to get to know your CCV Family is in becoming a part of a Community Group.  But we don’t have to wait until......

From Pastor Steve’s Study: It is one of those times when I need to express my deep gratitude for the Lord’s grace and for how He has demonstrated that grace through you.  Coming out of such an unusual and challenging time as we have faced in the last few months, we are probably healthier as a church than we have ever been.  These are a few reasons for thanksgiving that come to mind: A spirit of unity that is almost palatable as we prepare to make the move in September A wonderful......
